Is your dog good training material?

Most every dog can be dog trained regardless of his age, assuming he is healthy and attentive.

Yes, even old dogs can come to life and learn new things through the proper dog training.

How do you know if your dog is well trained?

This is rather subjective. Some say a well trained dog knows not to jump up on people. Others say a well trained dog comes when he is called.

Both of these are good examples of effective dog training and contribute to a well behaved and trained dog.

Below are examples submitted from a survey of people regarding dog

behavior exhibited by dogs who have undergone quality dog training:
  • Your well trained dog should sit and stay when told.
  • Your well trained dog should lie down and stay when told.
  • Your well trained dog should be able to romp and roam freely with the use of a only a loose leash.
  • Your well trained dog should not jump on people.
  • Your well trained dog should stop barking on command.
  • Your well trained dog should shake hands or dance when told. (These dog training tricks are great fun.)

The bottom line: virtually all healthy dogs can be well trained. Don’t let your dog remain un-trained and undisciplined. Save him from a boring and underprivileged existence. Don’t let him be one of those untrained dogs that don't have good table manners.

Don’t let him tug you around on the leash when you are out walking him. Your well trained dog shouldn't have to be locked up when guests are visiting.

Most dogs are very smart. All they need are love and attention other than dog training. Don’t let your dog fall into a stupor and just sit around in a dazed fog all day. Spend time with him. Train him. Make your dog a well trained dog.

Take and show a strong interest in your dog and his welfare. Some initial dog training and regular amounts of quality time spent with your dog will result in his becoming the beloved pet you both deserve.
